In the video game, Flesh Lip is one of the first bosses you battle that you can actually kill, and it’s only fitting that they look so unsettling. PlayStation has released a new episode, stating- “We hope that this very clear comparison will show you which aspects of the original the production team has respected and emphasized, as well as which aspects have been improved upon.”

In the video, we can see that the general set-up for Laura’s cutscene that predates the battle and the Flesh Lip encounter itself are quite faithful to the original game. Only a few key changes take full advantage of current storytelling and combat design techniques.
The lip boss fight in the episode, alongside its accompanying cutscene, exemplifies the approach the makers of the game took when reimagining Silent Hill 2. It shows their reverence for the original game by staying true to its original design, while also expanding upon it using modern technology that allows players to feel more in control. Full-body motion capture is used in conjunction with detailed animation. This has allowed Bloober team to make these characters come alive through subtle facial expressions and gestures.
