Apple has introduced a new standout feature, “Clean Up” as a part of the latest developer beta for iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS 15.1. The new feature functions similarly to its rival Google’s Magic Eraser, which was previously launched in 2021.
The Clean Up feature allows users to easily identify and remove unwanted objects. Apple claims that the tool utilizes AI powered by Apple intelligence to detect objects within images. Additionally, the tool is eligible to glimpse the background and shadows to smoothly fill the blank space after removing the objects inside the photos.
Therefore, users can cut objects from one tap on images effortlessly. By encircling or brushing the undesired things, users achieve the photos without leaving the proof of editing. This feature simplifies the process of photo editing and makes it user-friendly.
Apple continues to extend AI technology by introducing additional features of Apple Intelligence including writing tools, supercharged Siri, notification summaries for SMS and Mail, natural language search in Photos, transcription for calls and voice recordings in Notes, and a smart replies feature in Mail.
Apart from this, Bloomberg’s writer Mark Gurman also reviewed the Clean Up tool and posted it on X. “So far the clean up feature for photos in iOS 18.1 beta 3 feels a bit raw and underwhelming. It’s not very good. I wonder if it actually ships in October or if Apple adds a beta label in the photos app. The expanded summaries to third party apps are a good addition.”
