
In an impressive transition of its digital assistant, Google has introduced a beta feature that has been named ‘Personal Intelligence.’ It is based on its Gemini AI and is capable of accessing the user’s Google apps to provide more personalized support. The launch of this feature is seen as a change in the consumer AI market toward greater personalization and was started on January 14, 2026.
The Personal Intelligence feature is meant to access a user’s Gmail, Google Photos, YouTube watch history, and Search activity, but only with their consent. U.S. users who have Google AI Pro or AI Ultra subscriptions are allowed to connect their accounts and provide Gemini with access to that information. The feature, once activated, works on the web, Android, and iOS platforms simultaneously.
The company claims that this will eventually result in the digital assistant being able to infer the ‘dots’ connecting the databases and give responses that are very precise and personally relevant. This new feature not only showcases Google’s focus on personalization and ecosystem integration but also reaffirms it.
With the reasoning capability of the three different data types, text, images, and video, speaking in a common language, the Gemini system intends to progress from giving out generic responses to queries at the time of travel, finding the right product, or even reviewing old content. Privacy and user control take the leading role in the implementation. Personal Intelligence is not activated by default, so people decide with precision which apps are linked.
Google emphasizes that the system refers to personal data only for the purpose of responding to direct requests and does not use this private content for the training of its basic AI models. Users can always check or remove their chat history and disconnect apps. Personal Intelligence, now only available in the U.S. and through paid subscription plans, is anticipated to eventually be provided to free-tier users and be available in additional countries.
