In an exclusive statistic offered by Anna Pobletts, 1Password’s head of passwordless technology indicated a significant increase in passkey use among 1Password users over the past year.
Right now, approximately 1 in 3.4 users of 1Pasword have around one passkey saved with them and there are over 2.1 million passkey authentications every month. Since the passkeys were launched in September 2023, around 4.2 million passkeys have been stored in 1Password already.
The peak week for passkey adoption occurred on 15th April 2024, when around 90,000 passkeys were added and this spike closely follows an announcement by X, which started supporting passkeys for iOS users all around the world on April 8.
