At I/O 2024, Google Maps showed a new design for the bottom bar. Now, it is simpler.

Before got five tabs, now only three. Gone are Go and Updates tabs. Explore tab stays the same, but Go tab stuff now in “Saved trips” under Your lists in the center.

“Saved” is now called “You,” but not much changes inside it, and the bookmark icon is still there. Notifications and Messages from the old Updates tab now at top-right.

Also, no more search bar in this view.Contribute tab still there, no change. This makes app navigation look cleaner. Before five tabs, now three.

It is not a tall Material 3 bar and no Dynamic Color is used. Earlier this month, Android get sheet-based redesign.

These changes are not on iOS yet.New bottom bar is in Google Maps version 11.138.x for Android. If you don’t see it, try the force stop app.
