Instagram story update

Instagram is taking a step ahead. It has rolled out a new feature allowing users to add comments on stories publicly, taking engagement to the next level while prioritizing safety measures. IG Stories, one of the most popular parts of the Instagram app today, will foster interactions, enhancing its popularity.

Previously, comments on Instagram stories were received as direct messages, but now users can comment on someone’s story. This will now be visible to all other followers. The comments will disappear simultaneously with the story in 24 hours.

However, Instagram has taken preventative measures to make certain that this new feature doesn’t become a magnet for social media trolls. Only the profiles that the user follows back are allowed to comment on the stories. Also, the replies will only be visible to users who mutually follow the profile that uploaded the story.

These restrictions are in place to avoid unnecessary interactions and keep the discussion section focused on genuine participation from people you like. Furthermore, the comments will be retained if the story is saved as a highlight on the profile.

Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, said, on X: “Friends post a lot more to Stories and send a lot more DMs than they post to Feed.” He also said, “When you open a friend’s Story, you’ll be able to drop a public comment via the “add a comment” field. But you won’t be able to do this on just anyone’s story.”

The feature is expected to roll out globally in the coming months while keeping a fresh dimension in the Instagram stories.
