Instagram, the most popular social media platform, has rolled out a new feature that allows users to personalize their profiles with a 30-second music clip. However, the work in progress since a long-time feature doesn’t play songs, instead it lets the songs sit on the profile as a musical badge.
In a recent press release, Instagram stated that:
“We are excited to announce that you can now add a song to your profile, giving you more ways to express yourself through music. Your profile song selection will live on your profile until you swap out the song.”
Users can easily add music by updating the app to the latest version and navigating to “Edit Profile”, by selecting “Add Music to Your Profile”. Then users can choose a song either by browsing the “For You” section or selecting a favorite track, and afterward pick a 30-second segment to showcase.
This move is part of Instagram’s broader strategy to strengthen its music-related features, enhance user experience, and keep the platform dynamic.
Instagram also introduced other features like adding up to 20 songs to a reel, expanding sticker options to incorporate music, and with this update users can even post up to 20 photos or videos in a single post.
