The brand behind Nokia smartphones, HMD Global, has teamed up with toy maker Mattel to launch a special edition Barbie-themed flip phone. This will mark up an exciting new collaboration between the tech and toy industries. A pint-sized pink feature flip phone with a retro design will be available on August 28, priced at $131.24.
The Barbie phone features a sleek pink-themed design, complete with sparkling accents and the back panel showcases an elegant Barbie logo, adding a touch of nostalgia for its long-time fans and making it a must-have for collectors.
The front screen doubles as a mirror, ideal for quick touch-ups. The keypad has hidden designs featuring palm trees, hearts, and flamingos that light up in the dark. A “Hi Barbie” voice welcomes you as you turn on the phone, and you’ll see a missed call notification from Ken.
The phone includes a pastel beaded strap with charms inspired by Barbie’s iconic looks, such as a mini pair of 1959 sunglasses and a Malibu roller skate, all packaged in a Barbie and HMD-branded jewelry box. Users can spice up their phones with stick-on crystals and retro Barbie stickers, including flowers, flamingos, and rainbows.
The Barbie phone will feature a long-lasting battery, a mid-range processor, a high-definition display, and a powerful camera setup. Along with this, it will have exclusive Barbie-themed apps, wallpapers, and an interactive UI that enhances the user experience.
The Barbie phone differs from regular smartphones and allows users to make calls and send texts but gives no access to social media apps, promoting a more mindful and distraction-free environment.
