In a recent post, Nintendo confirmed the successor of Nintendo Switch will be backward compatible with Nintendo Switch software.
A tentative name of its successor is Nintendo Switch 2, it will surely support Switch games. Moreover, allows players to play their best Nintendo Switch games on the new and upgraded Switch 2.
In a new post on X (formerly Twitter), CEO Shuntaro Furukawa said, “At today’s Corporate Management Policy Briefing, we announced that Nintendo Switch software will also be playable on the successor to Nintendo Switch.”
He continued while explaining, “Nintendo Switch Online will be available on the successor to Nintendo Switch as well. Further information about the successor to Nintendo Switch, including its compatibility with Nintendo Switch, will be announced at a later date.”
Moreover, Nintendo Switch 2 software will be able to benefit from its cutting-edge technical specs, smoother frame rates, and potentially improved resolutions. You must keep in mind that the above information has not been officially released, the original data may differ from it.
The Verge reported that the Nintendo Switch 2 may be released in the fiscal year until the end of March 2025. Additionally, the backward compatibility with Nintendo Switch not only satisfies customers but helps in preserving video games.
However, Furukawa confirmed the successor of Nintendo Switch in the Nintendo store and its backward compatibility but didn’t reveal the release date. It is expected swapping to Nintendo Switch 2 won’t interfere with the existing 100 million annual users. Hence, the transition will be smoother compared to previous generations.
