Even though it has been over a year since the release of the OnePlus Open with more powerful competitors from Samsung and Google, it continues to be the top pick for foldables.

This has generated major excitement for its upcoming successor, the OnePlus Open 2. The CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau has already hinted at the sleek design of the Find N5, which is Oppo’s equivalent of the Open 2, focusing that this will be even thinner than a pencil.

Recently, more images have showcased the amazing slimness of the OnePlus Open 2 have surfaced online. It is possible that it could make its debut as early as the first quarter of 2025.

Oppo’s Find series product manager, Zhou Yibao, shared several images on Weibo that highlight the slim profile of Find N5 when folded. The visuals reveal that the N5 or Open 2 will measure as thing as two stacker quarters of four stacked credit cards.

One image suggests that the foldable will be nearly half the thickness of an iPhone. In this Weibo update, Yibao noted that the USB-C port limits the thinness of the Find N5. One of the images, he shared illustrates this point, showcasing that the foldable is only as thick as the USB-C port itself.

OnePlus Open has a thickness of 5.8mm when unfolded. Judging by the teasers and images, the Open 2 is anticipated to be under 4mm thick.

Oppo and OnePlus are not just focusing on slimness with their upcoming new foldable. The Find N5 or OnePlus Open 2 will also boast enhanced IP certification. In a separate Weibo post, Yibao disclosed that the Find N5 will achieve IPX8 and IPX9 rating, which makes it the only foldable to withstand high-temperature and high-pressure water jets.

OnePlus Open 2 is expected to launch in the US, Europe, and select Asian markets, while the Find N5 will cater to customers in China and nearby regions.
