On Monday, Qualcomm introduced the newest mobile platform, Snapdragon 8 Elite, at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit. The company claimed the latest processor is the most powerful and fastest globally.
Moreover, this chip is the first mobile platform with “Elite” branding like Snapdragon X Elite laptop chipsets. Qualcomm’s latest system-on-a-chip (SOC) has advanced technology that supports AI (Artificial Intelligence).
In addition to the details of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, this chip is an assortment of a second-generation Qualcomm Oryon CPU, Qualcomm Adreno GPU, and enhanced Qualcomm Hexagon NPU. This combination is capable of accessing on-device AI tasks like image generation, text translation, etc.
“Today, our second generation of the Qualcomm Oryon CPU debuts in our flagship Mobile Platform — it’s a major leap forward, and we expect consumers to be thrilled with the new experiences enabled by our CPU technology,” said Chris Patrick, SVP and GM of mobile handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, in a press release.
However, the company did not reveal which Android phones have this Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. It is expected that Samsung, Asus, OnePlus, Oppo, Honor, iQOO, RealMe, Redmi, and Xiaomi will sign a contract with Qualcomm in the coming weeks.
