Reddit is now rolling out a couple of new updates for its iOS and Android apps to make it easier for people to track and take part in conversations on the platform. The company recently announced on Wednesday that it will be launching a new unified media player along with an instant comment system as well as a direct conversation shortcut into the app.
Seeing that the real appeal of Reddit lies in its ability to make having conversations on a number of topics a lot easier for users, it just makes sense that the app is taking a conversation-first approach with its mobile app.
So, to create a more seamless flow across post types, Reddit is now introducing a new unified media player that users can swipe through to not only look at the comments but see new content as well.
Reddit users can access the new media player by simply clicking on any image or video on the platform. But just like before, the sound on Reddit videos will be off by default. The company has stated that they believe that conversations will not flow easily if the way to get to them varies across post types.
This is why the change in the comment system is a much-needed part of Reddit.
Post update, when users click on the comments button in any post feed, they will be taken directly to the top of the comments section. In the past, users had to scroll through the post page to even see the comments.
Reddit will also be introducing a new context bar that will stick to the top of the page. This will allow the users to return to the post or dive into the content with just a single tap.
