We’re just a day away from the release of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2! Can you feel the excitement in the air? Dom Matthews, the amazing studio head at Ninja Theory, has shared a heartfelt message with all of us on the official Ninja Theory X account. It’s brimming with gratitude and love for both the fans and the incredible development team behind this much-anticipated game.
“From the very beginning of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, we have had you in mind,” Dom shared with such genuine emotion. “I truly hope that when you play the second chapter of Senua’s story, you will find that familiar connection once again. And who knows? Maybe even more people will discover and fall in love with Senua and her world.”
Dom also mentioned how many of you have reached out to express just how much Senua means to you. Your unwavering support and faith have been a huge inspiration for the Ninja Theory team to keep Senua’s story alive and kicking. The first chapter, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, released back in 2017, was a visual and emotional masterpiece that captivated fans and critics alike. Its portrayal of psychosis through smart audio-visual distortions was groundbreaking and added an unforgettable layer to the gameplay.
“Its incredibly smart use of audio and visual distortion and trickery to convey the frightening effects of psychosis, hallucinations, and delusion, are married with the gameplay elements for an experience that rarely ever grapples over whether it’s a game or a story,” we wrote in our review of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice.
Since the 2019 Game Awards announcement of Hellblade 2, there’s been a whirlwind of excitement. Sure, some of us were a bit bummed to hear that there won’t be a physical release and that the console version will be capped at 30 FPS. But hey, the adventure we’re about to embark on is going to be epic, no matter what!
Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 drops tomorrow on PC and Xbox, and we can’t wait to dive in. For all the juicy details, make sure to check out IGN’s Hellblade 2 preview and see how Ninja Theory is using cutting-edge tech like Epic Games’ MetaHuman animator to bring Senua’s world to life like never before.
