sonys new PlayStation

The new Ghost of Tsushima recently debuted on PC and it is one of the very first games that feature Sony’s new PlayStation PC overlay and shared trophy system. Tom Warren from the Verge had a chance to take a look at the new overlay and his first impressions are pretty positive.

There are five main sections on the overlay, search, friends, Trophies, profile, and settings. The search feature lets you search for other PlayStation players and add them as friends, while the friends section lists both your online and offline friends list.

The Trophies section works just like you’d expect. It syncs the Ghost of Tsushima Director Cut trophies from the PS5 version of the game to the PC, and vice versa.

And, similarly, the Profile section lets you view all your existing Trophies across all your PlayStation games, and the settings section pretty much functions just as you’d expect it to.

Overall, the PlayStation PC overlay works so much like Steam’s and in a sense, it is only active while the game is running. Sony has yet to create something that works in the background, like Nvidia’s GeForce Experience or Xbox Game Gar from Microsoft.

Sony PlayStation PC Overlay Works Pretty Much The Same as Steams

Still, while the overlay looks and feels pretty lightweight, and even seems basic in some parts, Sony is planning to make it much more interactive and feature-packed soon.
